We Elevate the Ordinary

We ask questions without presumption.

The right solution requires uncovering the right question. We strive to understand our clients and what makes a particular location special. Our collaborative process results in places that relate to the people who use them, and to the land that surrounds them.

We look to nature to inform our solutions.

The path of the sun, wind and views, and the lay of the land influence how a building is situated, how it is made, and how spaces flow together. Allowing natural resources to inform design decisions enables us to create healthy spaces that are energy efficient and open to nature.

We think long-term and work with like-minded people.

It takes many hands to create great places, and so we work within a forum of open communication and mutual respect. We recognize the investment required by all parties to develop something intended to outlast us. For us, buildings are like people in a way. They each have their own personality and a lifetime to live, and so we care deeply about getting the details right. Along with our extended team of world-class design professionals, we have a common expectation of delivering exceptional quality, resulting in places that are resilient, enduring, and add long term value.

We design for many through the experience of one.

Although our buildings and landscapes accommodate many people, we envision places through the lens of one person's experience. We achieve this by putting ourselves in the shoes of different people to understand their individual journey.

We consider innovation necessary for creating.

We are interested in creating a world where the "normal" for the next generation is embedded with the groundwork for positive change. Each new work brings opportunities to research and explore new materials, advanced construction techniques, and evolving technologies. We are obligated to push the envelope to promote better social, environmental and economic value through our work.

We embrace constructibility and celebrate the practical.

Being pragmatic about construction allows for an efficient and expressive building. Early in our process, we work in both physical and virtual models so the design intent is clear. As the design develops, we engage our team of consultants and contractors to explore various building systems and evaluate cost and time.
